HOW TO SURVIVE A SATURN TRANSIT

HOW TO SURVIVE A SATURN TRANSIT?

We are all afraid of Saturn, and in ancient times it was called the “Greater Malefic”, because its function is to “test” us and oblige us to reconsider the area of our life that Saturn is challenging. Saturn represents the way we have structured our universe and this is what is being questioned when Saturn transits our personal planets and the house in our chart that Saturn is transiting. This is the time to find out what we really want and do not want, to re-organize our life and to let go of what we do not need.  However, most of us experience Saturn as an external force that we cannot control and we resist it until we bring about the very “fated event” that we wanted to avoid in the first place. But no matter how unpleasant this event might be, its outcome is what you really wanted but did not dare to face.

So, how can we avoid the “pain”? The Saturn experience is an internal one, and when the planet transits a house in our horoscope, we should pay attention to the affairs of this house and examine, honestly and realistically, every aspect of these affairs. If they are in good condition, Saturn will help us solidify our situation. If they are in poor condition, Saturn will bring changes that we should accept and adapt to instead of resisting. As an example of a Saturn “fatality”, let’s take the loss of a job, because of layoffs or any other circumstance out of our control.  Maybe we should have quit that job a long time ago, but we were afraid to let go. Well, Saturn came to the rescue and now we are free to go for something we really want!  So, is it so bad?

DOMINANT PLANETS

DOMINANT PLANETS

Saturn is one of the most important planets to examine by transit. It represents the teacher, discipline, responsibilities, delays, limitations, obstacles. The planets it aspects by transit are being challenged and behavior patterns must be re-examined. If a Saturn transit is experienced positively, from within, the best results can be expected. If we resist, it can be very unpleasant.

As for all slow-moving planets, the sign in which Saturn transits is less important than the planet it activates or the house it crosses. So, if you have planets in Pisces, what they represent in your chart is being challenged and changes should be made in these areas of your life.

A planet is dominant in your chart when it conjuncts the cusp of the Ist, IVth, VIIth and Xth houses, when it is conjunct the Sun or the Moon, when it is conjunct the ruler of the Ascendant, and when it rules a Stellium (a group of three or more planets in the same sign).

Dominant planets are the most important planets in a chart, because they imprint their nature in the personality more than any other element. As an example, Neptune, the planet ruling Pisces has the same attributes as the sign, and its dominance in a chart produces the same results as the sign itself. For instance, a conjunction Sun/Neptune in any sign  has a similar meaning as Sun in Pisces.  The individual who has a Sun/Neptune conjunction is called a “Neptunian” and his or her personality is strongly tinted by the nature of this planet. Furthermore, the “cycles” of these dominant planets are to be taken into consideration in predictive astrology. In the case of Neptune, this planet stays 14 years in a sign and each time it changes sign it starts a new cycle of life for the Neptunian person.

It is possible for an individual to have more than one dominant planet. This produces individuals with very strong personality traits which are sometimes in contradiction with one another. One can be Plutonian as well as Venusian, Uranian and Saturnian. In this case, the Sun sign has very little to do with the character. This confirms what we were saying before under the topic “What is my sign?”. Generalization is misleading and can only hurt astrology.  The best way to know your dominant planets is to have your chart calculated for the time of your birth.

THE MOON AND OUR EMOTIONS

THE MOON AND OUR EMOTIONS

After the Sun, the MOON is the second most important planet in all charts, because it determines the way we express our emotions and how we feel the environment around us. For a woman, the Moon takes precedence over the Sun, because the Moon represents women or the feminine in general whereas the Sun represents men or the masculine. In a man’s chart, the Moon will also represent his mother as well as the kind of woman he will marry. The Moon in water signs is very emotional and extremely psychic. In a fire sign, it is impulsive and warm. In air signs, it intellectualizes feelings and emotions where as in earth signs, especially Capricorn and Virgo, it restrains and hinders them.

The Moon conjunct (in the same sign and less than 10 degrees apart), a planet takes the nature of this planet. For example, Moon conjunct Mars becomes very similar to Moon in Aries (Mars ruling Aries), with all the attributes of the planet Mars. The planet conjunct the Moon thus becomes a dominant quality in the person’s character. The sign in which this conjunction happens is very important, because it defines the way the Moon expresses emotions.

The Moon also represents our childhood – the first seven years of our life – and very old age when we return back to infancy.  With Saturn for instance, it rules old age and how we are going to spend these golden years.

Moon in Aries – Action oriented, quick reactions, spontaneous, direct, inclined to impulsive and quick temper, emotional instability, very independent, better in a man’s chart.

Moon in Taurus – Money and material things are important, strong desire for security, possessive, stubborn, but sensitive and very loyal in her affections. Makes excellent mothers.

Moon in Gemini – Versatile, shrewd, critical, thinks too much and gets easily confused, longs for knowledge but is too superficial, restless, changeable and nervous, lots of chatter.

Moon in Cancer – Very sensitive, subject to mood swings, easy going and sociable. Very strong need to nurture and mother others. Can get carried away by tides of emotions. Psychic abilities.

Moon in Leo – Likes to be on display, must be the center of attention. Proud and easily offended. Has leadership abilities. Strong affections. Ambition and drive for security.

Moon in Virgo – Very proper and conservative, feels intellectually superior because of a deep inferiority complex.  Critical and analytical, apt to be cranky and fussy about minor details.

Moon in Libra – Gentle, wants to please everybody, wants to be all things for all people, very sociable, ambitious but dependent, seeks peace and harmony but finds it difficult to achieve.

Moon in Scorpio – Intense and passionate, desire is the motivating force. Strong physically, sensual, deep feelings, easily hurt, can be jealous and possessive. Goes after what they wants and usually gets it.

Moon in Sagittarius - Loves freedom, travelling, can be restless and lacking continuity. Very optimistic and friendly. Wants to help others it often forgets to do so. Attracted to philosophy and metaphysics.

Moon in Capricorn – Strong ambition, power complex, very insecure, wants to win recognition as an important and powerful person.  Not emotional, rigid and crystallized feelings, self centered ambition.

Moon in Aquarius – Good mind but erratic and unstable, non emotional, feelings cramped and limited, coldness. Strong selfishness behind a friendly manner. Can be original if it can get out of rigid thought patterns

Moon in Pisces – Visionary, dreamer, poetical and mystical. Makes great gentleness in a person but does not do well in a worldly sense. Great sympathy for the underdog and suffers through their deep emotions. Empathy and great sensitivity.

The SUN, Symbol of Creation

The SUN,
symbol of Creation

In all the traditions of the world, ancient and modern, the Sun has always been the symbol of the Divinity. It is very easy to understand why: The Sun is the brightest fixed star at the center our solar system and all of the planets revolve around it; it is the giver of life, for without the Sun life would not be possible.

In a chart, it represents the Self, the will power, love, creation. It is the center  of the personality, the life force of the individual. Where your Sun is shows your heart’s desire. it shows where you shine and where you are most likely to attract attention.

Traditional astrology is based on the movement of planets around the Sun and the astrological year starts when the Sun reaches 0° Aries; the sign in which the Sun is located the day you were born determines the foreground of your personality. This is why so much emphasis has been given to the Sun sign and when we say we are a Libra, or a Leo, it means that the day we came into this life the Sun was transiting the sign of Libra, or Leo. However, the Sun alone does not determine the whole character; for this, it is necessary to study the whole chart.

Here is a short outline of the fundamental meaning of the Sun in each sign:

SUN in ARIES: Self assertiveness. The will to be a leader. Love that grows. Creation through impulse.

SUN in TAURUS: Possession. The will to endure. Stability in love. Creation that stands the test of time.

SUN in GEMINI: Mobility. The will to communicate. Love that hesitates. Creation through intellect.

SUN in CANCER: Security. The will to nurture. Motherly love. Creation at home.

SUN in LEO: Strong ego. The will to shine. Powerful love. Creation that takes center stage.

SUN in VIRGO: Perfectionism. The will to work hard. Love that calculates. Creation in technical fields.

SUN in LIBRA: Sociability. The will to please. Love that shares. Creation of beauty.

SUN in SCORPIO: Transformation. The will to control. Love passion. Destruction and re-creation.

SUN in SAGITTARIUS: The “Guru”. The will to conform. Love that wants marriage. Creation approved by society.

SUN in CAPRICORN: Ambition. The will to get to the top. Long lasting love. Creation that requires time.

SUN in AQUARIUS: Freedom. The will for knowledge. Unconventional love. Creation that revolutionize.

SUN in PISCES: Mystery. The will to escape. Love that suffers and saves. Creation that’s out of this world.

SIGN OF AQUARIUS

AQUARIUS
Ruled by Uranus and Saturn
From about January 20 to February 20
Key word: I KNOW
Air sign = fixed sign
In the body it rules the ankles

Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac. Natives of this sign are the inventors of the zodiac, thanks to their very developed intellectual faculties. They project themselves in the future and their vision is, most of the time, years ahead compared to other humans. This is why we find many science fiction writers sharing this sign (Jules Vernes for instance). They are also very good in politics (Ronald Reagan, who was also a movie actor, motion pictures are ruled by the sign of Aquarius).

On the personal side, these natives are very independent and have a hard time with commitment in long term relationships because they dislike constraints. They prefer free love rather than marriage and the person they choose must be a friend before anything else.

They are very friendly and attract sympathy very easily and therefore they have many friends, but they always keep a certain distance. They are rather cold and aloof emotionally, being much more involved in their work than with personal relationships. They excel in the technology and scientific areas. They can also devote their life to an altruistic endeavor on a planetary scale. (International organization such as the United Nations is typically Aquarian in nature).

On the negative side, Aquarians can be arrogant, cold, aloof, lacking compassion, and eccentric. They can be unpredictable, rebellious and very stubborn. But let’s not forget that the Sun sign is not enough to determine a whole personality. Other signs and planets present in a chart change its interpretation. This is why we cannot judge the character of a person based solely on his/her Sun sign.

ASTROLOGY UNVEILED

Astrology Unveiled

I have been a professional astrologer for over 30 years and I developed quite a good practical knowledge of this ancient science. And this is what I learned:

Astrology is a cosmic science. The word Cosmos means order. Everything in our universe is governed by the laws of analogy, i.e., as above so below. Astrology is the body of laws that link the infinitely large and the infinitely small to the Cosmos. Thus, apparent disorder becomes universal harmony. Consequently, human beings cannot be independent of this order and the destiny of humanity as a whole, as well as that of each individual is determined by these laws that rule the universe.

Individual astrology reveals one’s place in the universe as well as one’s role as an inseparable element of one’s environment. For everything is intertwined and if the stars’ function is to determine the destiny of humanity, each human being’s function is to fulfill his destiny according to his own nature.

WHAT IS FREE WILL?

Humans are the only beings on earth that enjoy this privilege. An animal or a plant are totally conditioned and have no power to change their life. However, human beings can only exercise their free will within the limits that have been assigned to them. For freedom is relative and is subjected to the general plan of the universe. Nevertheless, our free will allows us to maximize our potentials and to turn our destiny into a success.
In an individual birth chart, each planet, each sign, each aspect, represent both psychological characteristics and facts of life. Thus the chart proves to be of capital importance because it reveals our weaknesses and their consequences, but also our strengths which we can use to overcome obstacles and therefore control our destiny.

CAN ASTROLOGY PREDICT THE FUTURE?

A natal chart is a snapshot of the cosmos at the time of birth--a cosmic portrait. It is what the universe has to say about who you are what you may become.
The future is built in the present and all the potentials of our destiny are written in our birth chart. Astrology reveals these possibilities; however, it is up to each one of us to translate them into reality. It is as if, when we were born, we were given a recipe for a dish, with all the ingredients necessary to realize it. Our destiny is the dish, and we can turn it into a success with mediocre ingredients, or into a disaster with first quality ingredients.
The astrological chart thus becomes the instrument necessary to understand our own nature, to raise our level of consciousness and consequently, to improve our life.

FULL MOON - January 26, 2013 - 11:38 ET

Full Moon in Leo (Called the “Wolf Moon”.)
January 26, 2013 at 11h38 PM ET

The full Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon are in opposite sides of the Earth at the same time.and the Moon appears round and bright, or, like they say in the movie “Moonstruck”, “as big as a house”!!

Full Moons are traditionally associated with insomnia, insanity, restlessness, an increase in crime and various phenomena of bad behavior among humans.

Interestingly enough, many children were born during full Moon. This indicates that their parents might not stay together or do not get along, and, in the natives charts, it shows a conflict between their will power (the Sun) and their inner aspirations (Moon).

When the full Moon is culminating in Leo, the Sun is in Aquarius. Aquarius represents group consciousness and human evolution. Leo in its highest expressions is the sign of self-empowerment.

“We are ONE” is an Aquarian concept and the anti-thesis of the ego driven Leo. This full Moon is a challenge between these two forces. As the first full Moon of 2013, which is the beginning of the new Age of Aquarius,  we must  use the power of Leo to convey a message of Universal love and creativity, a call for soul awakening and a  preparation for the New Earth.
